Hiking
Hisa Miha is on the edge of the Triglav National Park and the Julian Alps. There are many incredible hiking and walking routes to discover.
One of the most popular routes is the 7km walk called the Tromeja (Triple Boarder) which starts in the centre of Rateče at the Kajžnik House. Then, you follow your way towards the Šurc Inn and along the forest path towards the Peč Peak. Incredible scenery of where these 3 countries meet.
Planica and the Triglav National Park also offers some fantastic scenic routes. There are also some much longer trails which start from Kranjska Gora and we would recommend visiting the Kranjska Gora website for more details:
Mountain Biking & Cycling
For those that prefer a more leisurely cycle there are plenty of less challenging routes through the long cycle paths that run through the valleys. There’s a good range of bikes available to hire from here.
Lakes & Water Sports
White Water Rafting
Caves & Castles
There are so many caves to discover in Slovenia and the best list of these can be found here.
Castles are also a plenty and the most popular are Predjama which is a 1hr 30 min drive from Hisa Miha or Bled Castle which is a 30 min drive.
Nature & Wildlife
Hisa Miha is situated on the edge of Slovenia’s only, yet undeniably incredible, national park. It was named after Mt. Triglav, the highest Slovenian peak (2,864 m). The Alpine landscape is breath taking: glacial valleys, inviting villages, verdant forests, Alpine flowers, and mountain pastures.
Slovenia also offers some special wildlife due to the large forest areas. There are small populations of brown bears, wolves and lynx (not near Hisa Miha so they won’t be helping themselves to your breakfast!). Trips can be booked to photograph them here.
You would have a good chance of seeing the less frightening wildlife near the house such as ibex and marmot. We would recommend going out hiking at around 5am to see them feeding before the heat.
